Description
Oil and air lubrication systems are used for the lubrication of bearings, especially spindle bearings. Other areas of application include the lubrication of chains, gear trains and process oiling.
The distinctive feature of oil and air lubrication is that the dosed lubricant is formed into an oil film inside the lubrication line by means of a continuous flow of air (compressed air) and is transported to the lubrication point along the pipe wall in the direction of the compressed air flow. The dosed lubricant is injected into a mixing valve via a lubrication unit. Here, an air flow supplies the lubricant in the form of an oil film through a secondary line to the lubrication point. Thus, the lubricant and air fluid are continuously supplied to the bearing or chain. The compressed air flow creates an overpressure within the bearing assembly, preventing the ingress of contaminants. Oil mist does not normally form in this form.
Oil and air lubrication systems can be monitored through oil film sensors. The oil film sensor continuously monitors the oil flow in the secondary line. Oil and air lubrication units can be configured for a variety of applications.
